Sometimes the best photography sessions don't go according to plan. Join us as we searched for beautiful evening light and captured genuine childhood moments in a stunning Central Kentucky poppy field.
A Little Laughter, a Creek, and One Great Hair Flip
This Central Kentucky senior session started like many others—with ideas, laughter, and a willingness to try something different.
She wanted to shoot in the river, was up for anything, and we were having a blast! We explored, experimented, and created several portraits. As we talked through other ideas, someone said, "Let's do a hair flip!" Without hesitation, she started wading into the deeper water. Then she paused.
For just a few seconds, reality set in. She looked down at the water around her feet and wondered what might be swimming beneath the surface. Honestly, who could blame her?
After a quick laugh about what might be swimming around her feet, she brushed it off, took a deep breath, and we went for it. It took a few tries, plenty of laughter, and a little determination, but when everything finally came together, she absolutely nailed the hair flip. A few moments later, she turned around with a huge smile and gave me a thumbs-up. That's when I knew we'd created something special.
Moments like these are why I love photographing seniors. Sometimes the best images aren't planned—they happen when everyone relaxes, trusts the process, and has fun together.
The hair flip image is one of my favorite senior portraits I've ever created—not just because of the final photograph, but because of everything that happened along the way: my client's adventurous spirit, the laughter we shared, the brief hesitation, and the moment she decided it was worth stepping outside her comfort zone. Those authentic moments often become the photographs you'll treasure for a lifetime.
If you're looking for a senior photography experience that feels relaxed, creative, and uniquely you, I'd love to help tell your story. Whether you're dreaming of a creek, downtown streets, wildflowers, or something completely different, let's create portraits you'll love for years to come.

Now offering stylized maternity gowns for client use!
So excited to add a few beautiful maternity gowns to my client closet!
I had so much fun shooting these gowns for the first time. You know how excited we get to take photos of everyone going to the prom—well these sessions were even more fun cause I got to play with these beautiful moms for longer than the 5-10 minutes prom go’ers give us, lol. I have to admit I was so touched when my last session shared she felt beautiful inside and out during our shoot. Still makes me smile. I am happy to shoot maternity as individual, couple or family in these gowns or clothing of clients choice.
Garrard County Teen Summer Reading Program 2019
As a teen, I read and read. I loved reading, like 2+ books a week. My dad drove me and I came home with a stack every visit and couldn't wait to start. Even read by moonlight when my parents were asleep. And they thought I read them quickly! I was moonlighting on them. Lol.
Reading entertained me and opened my eyes to so many things! I read about fashion, mysteries, fiction, travel, romance (age appropriate), biographies (tons of biographies), and lots of how to books. I was encouraged by reading about women with strength, character, purpose and drive. like Amelia Earhart, Juliette Gordon Low. I loved reading Kentucky authors especially Jesse Stuart. Without a doubt not only did reading entertain me, but enriched my personal and educational growth and helped to shape me to who I wanted to be and whom I am. I traveled, learned to crochet, to knit, and to sew and as an adult I learned programming, personal computer skills and I especially learned photography!
For the 2nd year I am happy to sponsor the Garrard County Public Library's Teen Summer Reading program by donating a portrait package for an ambitious teen. Feel free to share this and pass along to any teens you think might be interested!
